The annual Day of Caring event is organized by United Way of the Wine Country. This event enables employees from companies in Sonoma and Mendocino Counties to volunteer for the day at the UW Wine Country participating agencies and other non-profit agencies in the community. Types of projects include packaging food, delivering meals, painting, construction, clerical work, and yard work. As a result of these efforts, the agencies are able to focus a greater percentage of their time and energy on direct client services. In 2010, for the 20th annual United Way Day of Caring nearly 1,200 volunteers donated approximately 6,900 hours to nonprofits in our community.
Each year, Women’s Recovery Services has benefited from the kindness and support of Day of Caring volunteers who come to the organization and provide valuable time and skills to help us maintain and improve the facility. Agilent Technologies, Inc. employees; as well as many other fine organizations in our community, have helped WRS to keep our operation running, saving thousands of dollars in annual maintenance and repair costs.
