Master’s Level Registered Addiction Specialist & Certified Co-occurring Disorder Specialist

The Board of Directors of Women’s Recovery Services (WRS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Diane Madrigal as the WRS Executive Director effective, December 16, 2021. 

Women’s Recovery Services was founded in 1975 and provides residential treatment for pregnant and parenting substance dependent women in Sonoma County. The program has 20 treatment slots for women and incorporates an additional 12 beds for the children of the women entering treatment. The former Executive Director, Linda Carlson, retired at the end of October. Diane has been our interim Executive Director since mid-October while the recruitment process was conducted by the WRS Board with Stacy Nelson & Associates – Leadership Search Partners. 

The entire board is thrilled to have found a new Executive Director who is so well suited with experience, energy, and enthusiasm to fill this most important position for our community. Diane brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership and management of Substance Use Disorder programs, and other organizations very similar to ours. She has the heart, passion, experience, education and business sense to continue with the valuable mission and purpose of WRS. 

Diane retired from Sonoma County as the Section Manager of the Substance Use Disorder Section of Behavioral Health for 8 years, and 12 years as the Program Development Manager for Valley of the Moon Children’s Home. Previous to that she was the Executive Director Administrator of a non-profit residential program for Pregnant and Parenting women for 8 years prior to relocating to Sonoma County. She is a Master Trainer for Adverse Childhood Effects (ACES), as well as being authored in the “Cry of the Nightbird” anthology, where writers speak out against domestic violence.

 

Diane graduated from Antioch University, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor’s in Liberal studies, and an emphasis in Psychology and Alcohol and Drug studies. She is Master’s Level Registered Addiction specialist, as well as a Co-Occurring Disorders Specialist. Diane Madrigal, new WRS Executive Director said, “WRS has provided a legacy of services since 1975 to women in Sonoma County, women who are family, sisters, daughters and part of our community. WRS provides such an opportunity to regain their lives, their children, health and well-being. I am honored to be of service, and to continue the important work of my predecessors.” 

Diane will provide leadership to the board, staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders in implementing the vision and mission of Women’s Recovery Services. For more information on the Women’s Recovery Services:
